farmers marketWant to enjoy fresh foods from local/state farmers in the Twin City? Hit these markets up this summer. Once hooked, you’ll find more markets than we can list here.

The Mill City Farmers Market is open Saturdays 8 to 1 at 2nd Street and Chicago Avenue S., or on Tuesdays, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Commons. They have music, food trucks, bakeries, cooking demos and coffee bars—even market yoga! And have you seen the Minneapolis Midtown Farmers Market at 2225 E. Lake Street? It’s every Saturday through October, 8 to 1. Also 3-7 p.m. Tuesdays.

When visiting beautiful Lake Nokomis Park, pencil in a brunch at Fulton Farmers Market and enjoy the live music all the way through October. Saturdays, 8:30 to 1. Going out Sunday instead? Try Kingfield Market at 4310 Nicollet Ave. S. Find groceries, handmade arts, clothing, and household goods, and local music. Sundays, 8:30 to 1. Then top off your groceries midweek at the Nokomis afternoon market on Wednesday evenings, 4-8 p.m.

At the famous Minneapolis Farmers Market, you can pick out a fresh bouquet from Lyndale (daily, 6 to 1p.m., or at the Government Center on Tuesdays, 9 to 3, May to November). Pick up your veggies, and amble through 200+ vendors’ exhibits. Also check out their Thursday all-day market, through October at Nicollet Mall between 5th and 10th Streets.

Taking a Saturday hike near the river? From 9 to 1, drop in on the Northeast Farmers Market. Grab fruits and vegetables from local farmers.

And when at Eat Street, tack on a visit to Whittier. This easy-going marketplace is open Saturdays, 8:30 to 1. People love it on Facebook. Then there’s the West Broadway Market, a regular, Friday night community hangout at Freedom Square.

And we love the St Paul Farmers’ Market. It’s really several markets, networked throughout St Paul. Start at the main location: Lowertown. Saturdays, 6am to 1pm; Sundays, 8-1. Great, long season: April to November.
